  1. A probiotic supplement is a good idea in promoting gut bacteria balance, but dirt may be the more powerful probiotic solution. Dirt, the age-old super food, was the first mineral supplement, and eating it is a behavior practiced by many indigenous communities. Mommypotamus

  1. Paraquat, a pesticide linked to Parkinson’s disease, is manufactured in Europe, where its use is prohibited, and exported to the United States. While one sip of paraquat is lethal and the body of scientific evidence linking it to Parkinson’s is “about as persuasive as things can get” (not to mention the proven adverse effects pesticides have on the microbiome), the pesticide is legal in the United States. New York Times

  1. Oral probiotics proven to enhance memory in Alzheimer’s patients in a recent study. When supplementing daily with 4 probiotic strains (Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. casei, L. fermentum and Bifidobacterium bifidum), patients’ scores improved on a mental abilities test, while scores declined in their counterparts who did not take the probiotics. Metabolic changes may explain the improvement in cognition; those who took the probiotics also showed improvements in insulin metabolism and lipid profiles. Ageing Neuroscience
